Most Bride's have a Hen's night. but Emma
went to great lengths to organise a fantastic weekend away for
me and 5 of our friends.
She did a marvellous
job, especially of gritting her teeth, coping with PMT moods,
motivating all the fickle minded participants (including the bride)
who constantly fluctuated in the week prior in their enthusiasm
for 'travelling sooooo far' and spending 'ALL weekend?' at a hen's
party and playing chaffuer to those participants reluctant or
unable to make their way ALL the way to Concord for the kick off!
Narelle and I spent an interesting 8 or
so hours in the car (each way), alternating between trying to
pacify the screaming, swearing, bubble blowing Jordon and trying
not to wipe out ourselves and the car by dodging wombats and other
various other forms of native, road wandering wildlife at midnight!
It certainly was character building... lesson learned: I wouldn't
recommend driving further than about Bankstown with a child under
one myself!
In the end, the plush private chalet right
at the base of Mount Crackenback with it's own mountain stream,
great views, LARGE spa and huge verandah more than made up for
all the stress of getting everyone there. 48 hours of some very
girly - and some not so girly - activities ensued, including horse
riding, mountain climbing, mud packs, fine cuisine, spa baths,
nuddy runs to the alpine stream, a spot of B&D, a leisurely
ride up the chair lift and Jordon's first taste of snow!
Many thanks to the girls who made the
weekend so wonderful and especially to Emma for her persistence,
organisational manouvres and for keeping her sense of humour
